Fran Mallon earned a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and moved to New Hampshire in 1969. Watercolor became her medium of choice in the late 1970's. Fran has been a member of the New England Watercolor Society since 1986. She moved to Portsmouth, NH in 1991 because of her love of the seacoast and its rich painting subject matter. In 1995 she painted a series entitled "Eileen's Garden." In 1998 she began a series of paintings of the historic Wentworth-by-the-Sea hotel. In 2001 a one-person retrospective was held at the Wentworth Coolidge Art Center in Portsmouth. Fran is currently working on a series for historic Strawbery Banke. She continues to paint the seacoast area as well as subject matter from her travels. Fran's work can be found locally at Pierce Gallery, The Framing Alternative, Studio 139 Frame Shop and Kennedy Studios. Further up the coast, Fran Mallon has work in Kennebunkport at The Maine Art Gallery and Living Arts. The majority of her work is on view at her gallery at 42 Middle Street in Portsmouth, open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
